Conditioner function

Conditioning means any change or adding of powder material during leaving (or entering) mixer until arrives in pellet mill. Conditioning determines pellet quality. Conditioner makes the original pellet rather than ring die.
Conditioner determines pelletizing efficiency. Steam conditioning is the main factor of production efficiency. Normally, more sufficient conditioning makes higher output and quality.
Condensed steam plays the role as lubricant.

 

Three elements of conditioning
1.Temperature (Thermal energy) Steam temperature, surface temperature of conditioner, material temperature
2.While entering into conditioner, material moisture has an effect to conditioning.
   While entering into crushing chamber, material moisture affects pelletizing quality and efficiency.
3.Conditioning duration: Self-cooling time of steam, contact duration between material and steam, condensing duration of steam, material staying time in conditioner.

Long and large diameter VS Short and small diameter
Conditioners of different volume ratios shall be in accordance with designed output to make sure fully occupation. Filling rate shall be 40-70%.

图片4.png2.Paddle angle can be adjusted according to actual situation, and opposite angle can be applied if necessary (not more than motor rated current).
It shall be realized that paddle angle has dual effects to material staying time and filling coefficient.

Normal misunderstandings of conditioning
First: 80℃ is enough for poultry feed conditioning temperature
Take duck feed as an example, raw materials can be maize, wheat, cassava. However, their starch properties are different, which means conditioning requirements are different.
Second: Thermal insulation layer is not necessary for southern area
Thermal insulation layer prevents temperature loss. Heat quickly loses after steam condensation, which affects heat absorption of materials. Conditioning temperature shall be 80-90℃, while average temperature in southern area is only .
Third: Higher compression or poor conditioning results to block up, and low steam is better.
During operation, the steam and feeding amount shall be controlled, and the following are some steps for block up.
1.Moisture content of semi-finished products: moisture in conditioner, and moisture in crushing chamber.
2.Confirm if steam is used properly and enough.
3.Confirm if horn mouth is in good condition and ring die compression ratio is not higher.
